The "Holy Family" of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is a very strange family and at the same time as normal. Mary, pregnant before cohabitation, is very similar to many single mothers who meet frequently in Brazil. Here it seems that the conception of motherhood priority and is independent of the concept of the family. Certainly history has left deep scars in the Brazilian way of living certain values. But today, in a world that is increasingly becoming a "village common, the different conceptions of life become for all questions and provocations. Certainly it is true that there is a family like any other, "the proclamation of the Holy Family Christmas" provokes us to place all of our family experiences, or pseudo-family community in the light of God's plan, the fecundity of Holy Spirit, who always creates new life and concrete communion and often silent when Joseph, Mary's husband, is a sign.
Life the Christian community can find here the size of its "mission family" is a project of God which surpasses the family experience and at the same time it involves. There is a
creativity of the Holy Spirit that goes beyond our expectations, but who employs our hands.
There is a brave, happy and hard, continuous and fair, free and conscious way of communion that goes beyond the simple unity or uniformity that arises in the prophetic line of love.
Merry Christmas to the mothers, dads, children, grandparents, uncles, friends ... and to the communities who walk every day to Bethlehem!
WHAT HAPPENS IN VERONA? There are countless facts, experiences, encounters that leave every day my missionary experience astonished and amazed. Only a few examples:
1) happens to see some teenagers who are the celebrations in the church by taking home the Bible, the hymnal and the inevitable phone.
2) During a "festival" ever see in the chapel of the community some people singing religious songs and pray with great devotion. Outside mega plants that deafen with rhythmic music, people dancing and drinking beer. All living with a respect for diversity that is disarming and inconceivable for us Westerners accustomed to not ever mix things.
3) happens to see Jesus' crib with 2 or 3 children, 2 or 3 Madonnas, made with poor materials (remnants of dolls, and rags), all causes to recognize that the Nativity in which we are engaged, full of confusion, but so much joy. Verona
And what happens? How is continuing the journey begun with the Synod? From the information that I arrive there seems to be a period of "stagnation". Someone justified by the announcement made by the Bishop. But how?! Just because the bishop said something that everyone already knew, namely that in 75 years, as all bishops and priests should resign, it hangs on "design together" and live in the 'waiting' as a perennial "Advent"?
A Church that does not find the courage to renew itself in light of the Gospel, as the Synod has designed, can not claim to present themselves before the world today with the hope of renewing society. The world today, especially the poor, ask us first of all, the ability to renew ourselves to be faithful to the Gospel and to humanity today, both in terms of ecclesial structures, both on a personal level.
In the Diocese of São Luís and in our parish, in the midst of many contradictions, they are trying to program the 2007 (here the pastoral year runs from January to December). Have taken place in recent months: the Assembly of the Diocese, Vicariate of the Assembly, the Assembly Parish (which we called "Synod of the Community Council") always with the presence of all the priests involved, secular and religious movements and associations. In our parish, diocesan and walk in the light of the vicar, for 2007 we have identified two emerging social problems: the problem of basic health and safety problem. We have chosen three ways to tackle these problems: the "training" in light of the Word of God and the Church's social doctrine, the "pastoral plan" for a share of the problems within the joint responsibility of all church groups, the attempt to walk "together with public and private "in the neighborhood and the city. Certainly the daily pastoral reality is more complicated big words and pastoral projects, but we are aware that offering a sign of the joint is already a step and a witness of the evangelical community.

"I remember when for the first time I left my country of origin come to Brazil. It was a boat trip of 12 days. I was very excited and spiritually motivated to proclaim Jesus Christ to the people Brazilian. But when the ship sailed into Guanabara Bay and saw from afar the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, I was impressed, admiring on the hill of Corcovado, the famous Christ the Redeemer with open arms. .- The missionaries are "bees" of Jesus looking at the flowers and all the people in 'meeting to receive the pollen work with others, in favor of life. It 's a work of great patience and loving presence, which could give a thousand different flavors, allowing us to experience the infinite sweetness of the meeting with the God of Life acting in all people.
To develop this vocation, the missionaries need to recognize that Christianity is a multicultural experience that requires a continuous effort of inculturation of the Gospel. They, without losing its own identity and the duty of the ad, must remain open to the wonders that God achieved in all cultures and religions, with no barriers between the mystery of Christ and the action of the Spirit outside the Church. The Christian identity is an identity relationship. ".

The Diocese of Verona has organized for the month of February, the 50th of the document "Fidei Donum," which marked the beginning of the missionary diocese level, a meeting of all the missionaries in our city of Verona for a discount and a re-launch missionary.
